During the tour, we will visit the most important section of the MNK Czapski Pavilion, dedicated to the life and work of Józef Czapski – a writer, painter, soldier and witness to many events in the turbulent history of the 20th century.
A guided tour will allow you to explore the intricacies of MNK Czapski’s biography – from his participation in the Polish-Bolshevik War, through his studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and in Paris, Soviet captivity during the Second World War, joining General Anders’s army and the mission to search for Polish officers imprisoned by the NKVD and murdered, right up to his emigration to France, where the artist was associated with the Literary Institute.
The exhibition features both the artist’s paintings and a selection of his writings. It will also be a unique experience to step inside the artist’s small room in Maisons-Laffitte, meticulously recreated on a 1:1 scale, where Czapski lived for over 40 years. Inside, you can see the original furniture, mementos, books, and even the doors and windows.
