In April 2019, another of Józef Mehoffer’s working designs for the stained-glass windows at St Nicholas’ Cathedral in Freiburg joined the collection of the National Museum in Krakow: the cartoon St Sebastian and St Maurice (1899), which, together with the cartoon “St Catherine and St Barbara”, purchased by the National Museum in Kraków last year, forms part of the design for the stained-glass window “The Martyrs” (1898–1901), considered a masterpiece of monumental art.
The purchase was co-financed under the “Museum Collections” programme, using funds from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage drawn from the Culture Promotion Fund.
