Rynek Główny 3, 31-042 Kraków
Painted in Paris, this painting is one of the best-known examples of the interpretation of French Impressionism in Polish painting. The miniature depicts beehives arranged rhythmically against a backdrop of multicoloured trees and a bright sky. The shifting colours and the shimmering play of light are an attempt to capture the impression created by their trembling. The carefully considered composition is both a charming landscape of Ukraine and a story of the artist’s experiences. Stanisławski’s painting is an example of his rich body of landscape work, capturing views of nature, the landscape and weather phenomena. The artist’s small-scale works depict the earth and sky at various times of day and night, in connection with the rhythm and changeability of nature.
