Hutsul Wedding is one of the most prominent works depicting the highlanders of the Hutsul region (present-day Ukraine), a theme that dominated the artist’s work. It depicts a bride with two bridesmaids in traditional dress. The women’s tanned faces emerge from behind elaborate headpieces. Their pensive eyes look in different directions. The bride, standing in the centre, stands out in her white coat and exquisite headdress. The women’s costumes, together with the background, form a multicoloured, fanciful composition.
