al. 3 Maja 1, 30-062 Kraków
This portrait was commissioned by the model’s father, Adam Oderfeld. The painting depicts a bust of his young daughter, Józefa. This is the artist’s own copy of a portrait currently held in the National Museum in Kielce. The work was created during Pankiewicz’s fascination with subtle nuances of lighting. The blonde girl is dressed in a red dress with puffed sleeves. Her large, dark eyes directed at the viewer command attention. The mysterious mood is enhanced by the lack of sharp contours and the diffused light.
