Description of the tour<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the Footsteps of the Sacred <\/strong>is a unique guided tour taking visitors through works from the collection of Gothic painting and sculpture \u2013 from the temporary exhibition \u2018Gothic in the Carpathians\u2019 to the permanent exhibition at the MNK Cio\u0142ek in Krak\u00f3w. All this is included in a single ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This proposed tour route weaves a coherent narrative about late medieval art and its subsequent evolution. It offers a glimpse into Gothic painting and sculpture as an extraordinarily diverse art form – dignified and austere, yet at the same time quiet, contemplative and humble.<\/p>\n

The tour will cover two branches of the National Museum in Kraków – it will begin in the MNK Main Building, where the exhibition “Gothic in the Carpathians” presents carefully selected paintings and sculptures brought from nine countries, and will then lead to Bishop Cio\u0142ek’s Palace (MNK Cio\u0142ek), which houses the largest collection of icons in Central Europe. The proposed tour route encourages visitors to broaden their knowledge of both the Gothic style and the art of the Carpathians, as well as its diverse forms present in religious sculpture and architectural details.<\/p>\n

A special catalogue<\/a> has also been produced for the exhibition ‘Gothic in the Carpathians’<\/p>\n
