Director of MNK \u2013 Prof. Andrzej Szczerski<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Professor Andrzej Szczerski is a historian and art critic, a lecturer and former head of the museum curatorial studies programme (2005\u20132011) at the Institute of Art History, Jagiellonian University. He also lectured at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main (2003) and at the University of St Andrews in the UK (2004). He has held fellowships at foreign universities and research institutes, including the University of Oxford, the Zentralinstitut f\u00fcr Kunstgeschichte in Munich, and the Universit\u00e0 per Stranieri in Perugia. He has also received fellowships from the Lanckoro\u0144ski Foundation and the Foundation for Polish Science, as well as grants from the National Science Centre and the National Programme for the Development of the Humanities. Recipient of the City of Krak\u00f3w Award (1996) and the Rector\u2019s Awards of the Jagiellonian University. In 2018, he received the annual Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the category of \u2018Protection of Cultural Heritage\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Andrzej Szczerski is the author of numerous publications, including: Modernisations. Art and Architecture in the New States of Central and Eastern Europe 1918\u20131939 (\u0141\u00f3d\u017a 2010), Four Modernities. Texts on 20th-Century Polish Art and Architecture (2015), Views of Albion, The Reception of British Art and Design in Central Europe (1890\u20131918) (2015), and Transformation. Art in Central and Eastern Europe after 1989 (2018). He also curated exhibitions such as Polish Artists and British Art at the Turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries at Wilan\u00f3w Palace in 2006, Symbolism in Poland and Britain at Tate Britain in London in 2009, Modernisations 1918\u20131939. The Future Perfect at the Museum of Art in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a in 2010, The Power of Fantasy. Modern and Contemporary Art from Poland at the Centre for Fine Arts BOZAR in Brussels in 2011, and the #heritage exhibition at the National Museum in Krak\u00f3w, \u2018Young Poland. An Arts and Crafts Movement\u2019 at the William Morris Gallery in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From January 2016 to 31 March 2018, he served as Deputy Director for Research at the National Museum in Krak\u00f3w. He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Public Committee for the Restoration of Krak\u00f3w\u2019s Monuments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
